Tour Overview

Day 1

Day 1: : WELCOME TO PHNOM PENH (-)

Welcome to Phnom Penh. Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport by your guide and transfer to hotel. Please note standard check-in time is at 14:00. Depending on your arrival time you may decide to add an additional tour at this point. Notice: Revealing clothes such as shorts and skirts above the knees and bare shoulders are prohibited in sacred places and temples. On religious Buddhist dates the Top Tower (Level 3) of Angkor Wat temple is closed and the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh is closed in the morning. PHNOM PENH ‘Phnom Penh is Cambodia’s busy capital, sits where the Mekong and Tonlé Sap rivers meet. It was a hub for both the Khmer Empire and French colonialists. On its walkable riverfront, lined with parks, trendy restaurants and bars, are the ornate Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and the National Museum, displaying artifacts from around the Cambodia. Despite its checkered past PP is in the midst of rapid change and growth, although it continues to exude a sort of provincial charm and tranquility with French colonial mansions and tree-lined boulevards amidst monumental Angkorian architecture. Definitely eclectic and alluring it’s a Capital worth seeing’
Day 2

Day 2: PHNOM PENH (B-L)

A discovery tour of Phnom Penh. At 8:00am you will be met by your driver and guide. Gain insight into the recent dark history of Cambodia at the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum – a former school converted to a detention center during the Khmer Rouge. Equally as harrowing are the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek. These are tough visits but important for learning about the country’s history. The rest of the day is much lighter, visiting the Russian Market, the largest in Cambodia, where everything is sold from carvings to jewelry, clothes and souvenirs. We then enjoy lunch at a local restaurant for Khmer delicacies. In the afternoon, we visit Wat Phnom, a beautiful hilltop temple with manicured gardens, followed by the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, name for the 5,000 silver tiles that cover the pagoda’s floor, known for its collection of gold, silver, crystal and bronze Buddha statues. Last stop is National Museum, housing the world's foremost collection of ancient Khmer artistic, archaeological, and religious artifacts from the 4th to the 13th centuries. At the end of the tour, return back to hotel.
Day 3

Day 3: PHNOM PENH-SIEM REAP (B-L)

At 08:00am, pickup at Phnom Penh hotel for your transfer by vehicle to Siem Reap. During the drive we break up the trip with two stops to visit local sites. The first stop is Roughly 55km from the capital. We make a stop at a local village, Skuon, better known as Spider Town. This busy market villageboasts a small community which has become infamous for its hunting and consuming of tarantulas. First eaten during reign of Khmer Rouge when food was scarce and starvation rife, tarantulas are still widely consumer today, particularly in Skuon where these arachnids are found in abundance. We take time to explore the local market to see the many ways these high-protein creep crawlers are prepared, and to try a few if you dare! After a feast of Khmer specialties, we continue on our drive towards Siem Reap. On the way, visit to Sambor Prei Kuk. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017, Sambor Prei Kuk is an archaeological site in Cambodia located in Kampong Thom Province. These buildings are characteristic of the Pre-Angkorean period with a simple external plan. Architectural features include numerous prasats, octagonal towers, shiva lingams and yonis, ponds and reservoirs, and lion sculptures. Upon arrival at Siem Reap, directly go for check-in and end of the day.
Day 4

Day 4: SIEM REAP (B-L)

At 8:00am, pick you from your hotel for the day’s tour. Your first visit is the South Gate with its huge statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk and see the ancient capital of Angkor Thom built in the late 12th century before we head onwards to Bayon temple which is unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara. Baphuon is like an artificial mountain that recently re-opened after years of restoration. Following, you may visit the Royal Enclosure, the Elephants Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. Then continue to the popular temple of Ta Prohm which is the modern name of the temple at Angkor, built in the late 12th to early 13th centuries. However, probably more famous for being the location where they filmed the Tomb Raider movie. Lunch is a Khmer feast served at a local restaurant. After lunch we continue to the magnificent Angkor Wat Temple, Angkor park’s most revered temple and the largest religious monument in the world. Inside the temple, the walls are covered with stone carvings and bas‐reliefs which are absolutely breathtaking. Your guide will explain the stories from the exquisite details and provide you with ample time to explore the inner and outer grounds of the temple. At the end of the tour, return back to hotel.
Day 5

Day 5: SIEM REAP (B-L)

Your day of past and present begins with an 8:30am pick up at your hotel. The first half of the day explores two highlight temples, Banteay Samre and Banteay Srei. Banteay Samre built under Suryavarman II and Yasovarman II in the early 12th century, it is a Hindu temple in the Angkor Wat style. We follow Banteay Samre with Banteay Srei, one of Angkor’s most beautiful temples. Built largely of red sandstone, this gem of a temple boasts a pink color and some of the most exquisite depictions. When it’s time for a temple break, enjoy lunch at local restaurant. This afternoon, we set off to Tonle Sap Lake where you will discover different aspects of the floating village activities from crocodile farming to fishing farms, traditional medicine shops, boat shops, spirit houses, floating schools, and more. Last visit is Artisans D’ Angkor, a local artisan boutique which was established to support Cambodian arts and crafts.
