Day 2: Siem Reap, Angkor Sunrise Discovery

Today, we start early morning so you can witness the sunrise at the extraordinary Angkor Wat and travel through the vast collection of ancient temples. Your guide will take you to the best spots to make sure you witness the colorful sunrise over Angkor Wat. Afterwards, you will go through the Angkor central complex and learn about the history and symbolism of the temple. Ask as many questions as possible to ensure you get all the information about the place you are visiting. When you have finished discovering Angkor Wat and had breakfast, you will then head out into the center of Angkor Thom and enter the city through the ancient Gate, an impressive stone gate carved with elephants and four giant faces. From here, continue to Bayon Temple, which is found in the center of the city, and is famed as the enigmatic faces representing the 54 provinces of the Great Khmer Empire. The Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King are also must-visits as they are both known for their intricate bas-reliefs. Have lunch at a local restaurant and try the exotic Khmer cuisine. Ta Prohm temple is your next stop before some leisure time in the late afternoon. Ta Prohm is unique in that it has been left largely as it was found- overgrown by jungle trees and vines, with many parts of the temple crumbling to the ground, and creating one of the most photogenic and atmospheric temples of the entire Angkor site. Meals: Breakfast & Lunch Hotel: Central Corner D'Angkor

This morning, we'll set out early for a visit to Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre, a tranquil forested compound one-hour from Phnom Penh. Upon arrival, meet with the local staff who will explain the day’s programs and give background information about the centre. Begin the Phnom Tamao tour with a walk through the 7 hectare compound alongside a caretaker. See more than 100 Asian Sun Bears and Black Bears (aka Moon Bears) who have been rescued from poachers and learn about Cambodia’s wildlife trade. There are also other animals, more than 12,000 in total, such as elephants and gibbons that are being rehabilitated and cared for at Phnom Tamao. Although the animals are fenced off, there are plenty of opportunities to observe them. Join the caretakers to feed the bears and learn about the different personalities of the many Sun and Moon Bears who now call the park home. A delicious picnic lunch will be served in a bamboo hut at the centre. After lunch, explore the grounds of the Wildlife Rescue Center with wildlife experts. Watch the gibbons as they swing from tree to tree, watch the squeaky otters play in the water, and enjoy a variety of exotic animals from Clouded Leopard to Asian Elephants, all of whom have been saved from captivity and are well cared for by local wildlife professionals. This is an incredible chance to see the diversity of Cambodia’s wildlife up close! In the afternoon, say goodbye to the staff and animals, wrap up the Phnom Tamao tour and return to Phnom Penh. Meals: Breakfast & Lunch Hotel: Frangipani Palace Hotel
Day 7

Day 7: Phnom Penh - Kampot

Today, we depart from the capital for the journey to the riverside town of Kampot with the optional sightseeing route. Kampot supplied most French restaurants with this vital spice for many years during colonial rule, Kampot pepper. Today, the region is well-known for its plantations of durian – a spiky, pungent fruit that has its lovers, and haters! In your free time this afternoon, you might choose to stroll along the riverside and observe the French colonial architecture, or have a cup of coffee on the veranda of one of the riverside restaurants and admire the view of Bokor Mountain Range. In the evening, we will enjoy a ride on the firefly cruise on the river – watch the sunset behind Bokor Mountain as you chug upstream, then look out for trees with the little glowing bugs as you return in the dark. Meals: Breakfast & Lunch Hotel: Bamboo Bungalow
Day 8

Day 8: Kampot - Kep

After breakfast this morning, you will depart Kampot and continue to the pepper plantation located in a protected and privileged rural environment, with a breathtaking view and luxurious tropical garden. Explore the farm with a local expert to learn more about the growing techniques and the origin of the different colours of peppercorns as well as to understand the traditional and organic growing methods. After our visit, we continue to the old colonial coastal town of Kep and you’ll have the option to hike through the Kep National Park, trekking through trails over a small mountain range with stunning views of Kep’s beach. Meals: Breakfast & Lunch Hotel: Kep Bungalows
Day 9

Day 9: Leisure in Kep

Enjoy your day in Kep at your leisure, or opt for a tour of Rabbit Island. As you stroll through this atmospheric colonial town, keep an eye open for signs of its heyday as an exclusive seaside retreat in the 1900s and again in the 1960s, before the town was abandoned during the reign of the Khmer. You’ll see the fascinating colonial building - some restored, some still in an elegant state of decay—that offers a historical glimpse into the picturesque town. Meals: Breakfast Hotel: Kep Bungalows
